FROM HOLLYWOOD TO THE ROW: THE RISE OF THE OLSEN TWINS
hOLLYWOOD’S FAVORITE TWINS
DID YOU KNOW ?
Before embarking on successful careers as fashion designers with their luxury brand The Row, Mary-Kate and Ashley were the most popular twins on television in the 90s/ 2000s. Aged just nine months when they landed their first role in the series Full House, Elizabeth Olsen’s (Wanda Maximoff) older sisters even dethroned the famous twins Tia and Tamera Mowri and quickly became true fashion icons!

Fashion icons ahead of their time
Beyond the standard scenarios of the time, their clothing style, first trendy then avant-garde, greatly contributed to the twins’ popularity. Red carpets, premieres, events, and even advertisements—who could stop the? NO ONE.
Twenty years later, the Olsen sisters’ looks remain IMMORTAL references for 2000s style.
The film New York Minute is itself a distillation of their style: from the iconic I ❤️ NY T-shirt with a rolled-up V-neck to Ashley’s turquoise blue outfit with yellow boots, not to mention Mary-Kate’s red velvet outfit, part rebel, part millionaire businesswoman… I mean come on !!
Add to that the outfits they wore to major events and in their daily life, mix it all up a bit, and what do you get? Y2K cunty twins !

THE ROW
Well, we get it, the Olsen Twins‘ style has inspired quite a few people. So much so that they decided to continue along those lines. With no Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok accounts, the twins decided to break away from acting and devote themselves to pure and simple FASHION (how can we not understand them?), disappearing from the spotlight and the public sphere.
The machine was set in motion: in 2004, Ashley worked on creating the perfect T-shirt, focusing on a design and quality suitable for all body types, before launching a capsule collection of several products with Mary-Kate in 2005. One year later, in 2006, THE ROW was born. What happened next? The women’s brand established itself in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, and London, before adding a men’s line to its collection.
All while imposing its minimalism in colors and maximalism in form during Fashion Week! So, how about a top 6 of the best looks from The Row’s designers over the years to end on a high note?
